Favre Retirement Press Conference

At a press conference this morning, Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre was expected to announce whether or not he was going to retire or come back for another season. He didn't, stating that he was still undecided. Anyone else getting to be as sick of this guy as I am? Favre, you had a good career, but you're looking silly and selfish now, especially by teasing an announcement and then not delivering. Just hang 'em up already and let the Pack start the rebuilding process!

Cool Re: Favre Retirement Press Conference

Lefty you're 100% correct. Who calls a press conference to announce nothing? I don't want to hear from him anymore until he decides one way or the other.

Maybe the can make this a reality series

At this point, I'm not sure it should even be his decision. Green Bay's front office should make the call as to whether or not he's back with the team. He wanted them to go spend big money on a new WR and a couple of O-linemen with no guarantee that it would cause him to come back. I really can't blame them for not doing so. They way his skills have diminished, the Pack probably wouldn't win with or without him, anyway.

Ah sour grapes...If he had no line and no receivers, no amount of un-diminished talent was going to make a difference...give him TO and a few line man and you would be humming a different tune...

Sour grapes? Why? I'm not a Packer fan, nor am I a Packer hater. I just think its crazy for him to try and hold the franchise at ransom just because he can't decide if he can muddle through another season. Face it, Gotham, Favre's all but washed up. His decision making has never been great, but now he's still trying to make throws he could barely make five seasons ago, and its costing them. It's in the best interest of this franchise to move on, that's all I'm saying.

I know where you are coming from, I just like to get you going on an issue... ...But It's really essy to dumb on Favre when aside from not having a line or receivers, he lost his main back as well...I remember a really good QB named Archie Manning...he ain't mention in the same breath as Staubach, and Bradshaw only because he did not have a team around him...Favre of late is a reflection of the Packers...no one dumps on a West Coast QB like Gannon when he makes a living out of 5 yard dumps...Favre at least plays the role right...even in decline...

Cool Re: Favre Retirement Press Conference

Yes Gotham. I would watch a Brett Favre. - Will he or Won't he retire reality show.

Actually the best thing for Favre if he really wants to play would be to get traded to a team like the Chargers where he would have a good team around him and have a chance for a Super Bowl. Why come back to Green Bay and get beat up? But he may just love to play and doesn't want to give it up. That's understandable.

But just decide one way or the other. Stop being so damned indecisive.

Re: Favre Retirement Press Conference

Profootballtalk.com started a rumor that Brett Favre was going to announce his retirement today. It was yet another false alarm on the Farve retirement watch.

Quote:
FAVRE RETIRING TODAY?

The early indications based on our discussions with league sources are that Favre will announce his retirement from the NFL at a Wednesday press conference.

FALSE ALARM ON FAVRE

After further review, it now appears that Brett Favre's Wednesday press conference is simply a standard, weekly media get-together.
Anybody think he'd really retire now as opposed to playing the full season?

He threw 29 INTS. Twenty freakin' nine!!! I dont care if he has a high school team playing around him that stat proves hes done. He simply lacks the arm to make up for his always crappy decision making anymore. I mean there are bust rookies who toss less picks than that! Its clear hes done so he should leave with his salary and his dignity (what he has left!).

Re: Favre Retirement Press Conference

This is ridiculous. If I was the Packers GM, I'd say (in private) to Favre, "Just retire already!" All of this hassle is putting the Packers organization back even more years.

He hasn't even been one of the top QBs in the NFC in several years.

Re: Favre Retirement Press Conference

I'm with you guys. Favre needs to hang them up, or the Pack needs to pull the plug on his career for him. He just isn't a very good NFL quarterback these days and his indecisiveness this offseason really cost the Pack a shot at a few free agents. The fact is that he's hurting the team, in many many ways.
