| Re: Favre to return for 17th season Favre is no where near overrated, but the Packers need to think about their future at QB. Eventually they will have to go to Aaron Rodgers, so why not start giving him the playing time? If I was the Packers, I would be thinking about the future, not the present.

Can you put him ahead of Tom Brady, John Elway, Peyton Manning, Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Roger Staubach, and Johnny Unitas? I don't think you can. Therefore, I think he belongs somewhere on the tier below them which features guys like Troy Aikman, Terry Bradshaw, Dan Fouts, Otto Graham, Jim Kelly, Bart Starr, Fran Tarkenton, and Steve Young. I fail to see why so many people are up-in-arms about my statement. It's not like I called the guy a complete bum. I just said that he doesn't belong in the upper echelon of all-time quarterbacks and is best suited in the second tier with the aforementioned names, which is still darn good company. (P.S. Packer fans should dread the day they have to go to Aaron Rodgers.) |

Again, I'm not saying he is a bum. Just that he doesn't belong on the same level as the greatest of all-times. |

Are you seriously trying to defend the latter part of Favre's career? He has been wildly inconsistent and shouldn't be playing if it weren't for the luster he still carries for the fans and the Packers. Everything you said above is true, but much of the same can be said about Favre. |

Look, I don't mind that you have a subjective scale on the matter...but care to explain to me how by your definition Bradshaw and Favre are not one and the same?...or say Kelly and Elway for the matter?... Transcendental...got to remember that one...you just made my night...lol... |

| Re: Favre to return for 17th season Regarding Bradshaw... go back and look at the NFL Network "America's Game" special about the Super Bowl Steelers. There's a great segment about how important he was to that team, and how he was so good at getting the best out of Swann and Stallworth. He really was a better QB than a lot of people give him credit for. With a guy like Favre, it's really hard for me to place him on a list of greats, because he's never had a good mental game. He's been the same gunslinger his entire career; it's just that when he was able to make those throws, he was good, and now than he can't make the same throws, he looks awful. That's his charm to a lot of people, but I would've liked to have seen him make some kind of mental adjustment to his game to compensate for his fading raw talent.

So now we are blaming Favre because he did not blow out his shoulder like Terry and has managed to play 17 seasons...last I remember, the great Johnny U spent to meaningless seasons in San Diego...Marino got his butt yanked in the playoffs... But hey, we don't remember all that cause we have Favre to kick around...nice memory there guys... |
