Brett Farve retiring?

I watched last nights game and on the halftime show, Sharpe and Bettis really think this is going to be Brett Farve's last year. But John Madden was thinking otherwise.

What do you guys think?

Re: Brett Farve retiring?

During the game I was under the impression that he was coming back. After the game he was interviewed and the way he was talking, he was pretty choked up and teary eyed, saying how he was going to miss these guys. Then when the question was put to him, he said "we'll see"

personally, as long as he feels he can still perform, he should stay. He has a couple of records that will be broken next year if he plays, i.e., most touchdowns, most games. He's a class act whatever he decides!

Yeah, the guy is still effective...no longer a top tier QB, but you can't tell me is still not better than a dozen starters out there...I think Marino's TD record is gonna fall...

Anyone think Peyton will catch either of them?...I think Manning has 273 and counting...

Re: Brett Farve retiring?

Favre's done, and his "Vermiel moment" as ESPN described it just proves that. Great career, but it's time to go.

Re: Brett Farve retiring?

I don't care abou the story anymore frankly. He'll just hold out again until right before training camp and return anyway. It's silly.

People don't just retire these days...well, unless your Tiki Barber I guess.

Re: Brett Farve retiring?

i agree with Empire that im also tired of the long drawn out circus......but i also understand to a degree

he wants assurances they will compete next year if he comes back.....from what i heard what he needs and wants most is a quality tight end......i also heard the team execs have already said they want him back

seems within the next month they could let him know they will use their 1st round pick to get the best TE available unless they find a real quality vet through free agency......then he can agree to come back

see should be able to be all over within a month.....should be reasonable enough for everyone

im not sure the Packers can ever again make a serious Super Bowl run with Farve, but id say with a quality TE for him to dump easy passes to they can make the 2nd round of the play offs next year for sure.....maybe even win the division............as long as the Bears dont wise up and get a quality QB

Welcome to goteamsgo jLab96. Here's what's going to happen: He's going to torture and bore everybody to death like he always does and then he's going to come back - just like Roger Clemens.

Talking Re: Brett Farve retiring?

Brett Favre will never retire. He'll make Julio Franco look like he's quitting young.

I concur. Brett Farve does this every year lately and every year he comes back to play "one more year." I think Brett just loves playing football, still has enough left to be a starting QB and will continue to play till the coach benches him at age 47.

Re: Brett Farve retiring?

He said so often that he is going to stop but he always returns. Before he doesn't win another superbowl he will stay i think.

No offense, but it doesn't exactly seem like you guys are close to winning a Super Bowl. How long's Brett willing to keep trying?

Question Re: Brett Farve retiring?

I think he will retire after the 2007 season regardless.
He keeps saying he will play as long as he still is having fun. The game is such a part of him.
I dont think they are close to a Super Bowl either. But you just cant ever count Brett out.

Yeah, I agree. Plus with all the talk of trade remands and the whole Randy Moss mess, I'm guessing he's really not having a lot of fun right now.

Re: Brett Farve retiring?

You would think the front office would do anything to give them one final shot with Brett. They have to know there will be a learning curve with Rogers if he is even going to be the future. This could be their last year for a while. As far as I can tell, they have an average at best passing game, and no running game at all. Why have they not tried to upgrade?
