Did Sherman get a raw deal?

Okay, Mike Sherman, outside of the legendary Lombardi and SB XL crybaby Holmgren, is only the third winning Packer's coach. Does one bad season full of injuries really deserve a firing? He faired better than Star and Greg, and was a far cry better than the disaster that was Infante, all of whom survived several bad seasons.

Just seeing what folks think. After all, I can understand the firing of Tice and Mariuci, but Sherman?

Hey, bahoena, haven't bumped into you around before. Nice to meet you!

I agree with you 100-percent on Sherman. You can't blame the coach for the fact that he was saddled with all of those injuries, not to mention an QB who is well past his prime. Green Bay should've let him have at least one more year. If only they had the patience of Pittsburgh, maybe he could've turned into another Cowher...

However, I disagree with you on Mariucci. He deserved more time, too. The problem there, as in Green Bay, had more to do with the personnel (and the person hiring those players, i.e. Millen) than it did the coaching staff. They have got to dump both Harrington and Garcia and start from scratch.

On the whole, owners are WAY too quick to pull the trigger on these coaches. Give 'em time, guys, and they'll give you results!

Yeah, I agree about owners being a little too trigger happy.

Though, when Sherman got the axe, I was really hoping that they'd promote Jim Bates, espescially considering what he did for the Packer's D, and then bring in Mariucci as the OC.

THAT would have been my ideal coaching change.

Thing with Mariucci is that I didn't mind him getting fired, even though I though he got a raw deal, because I've always been worried about what he could do as a head coach, especially for one of the Packer's rivals.
