Canadian Open

Mike Weir is in a three-way tie for the lead with Eric Axley and rising star Anthony Kim. Yesterday's opening round saw him shoot a six-under-par 65.
We love Weir up here - Ames ha been playing better but Weir is a huge crowd favourite. He is such a nice guy, too.
Apparently, fan are so noisy for him, the rest of his threesome grows frustrated with the hubub.
The noise was bothering the caddy for Todd Hamilton, one of Weir's playing partners, and he called out: "Hey, there's three players in this group."
Glen Abbey was rain-soaked afte a day of torrential downpour two days back but it's all a go now.
Let's see if Weir can hang in there. from the star:
(Weir's) playing the Abbey in an official capacity for the first time since his playoff loss to Vijay Singh in 2004.

Re: Canadian Open

Weir would be the first Canadian player to win this tournament since 1954, if you can believe that!

Re: Canadian Open

yeah - even though Ames has produced more consistently in these past few years - Weir is our Great Hope.
He's the little big guy.

Re: Canadian Open

Ames shot a 72, one over par yesterday - he's seven shots behind the leaders. He had to finish up his 18 holes this morn (rain delay), and then go back out for the next round this aft.
Today 5 golfers are tied for first: Mike Weir, Eric Axley, Anthony Kim, Sean O'Hair and John Huston, all at 65.
Last year's winner Jim Furyk shot a one under 70 - he's well behind.

Well, that's a bit of a shame. Another year without a Canadian winning the Canadian Open.
