| Tiger Woods named AP Male Athlete of the Year Tiger Woods has been named the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year for 2006. Second place went to San Diego Chargers RB LaDanian Tomlinson, while the guy I thought should have won it, Roger Federer, finished a distant third. Your reactions to Woods winning this award?

| Re: Tiger Woods named AP Male Athlete of the Year I have to believe that part of it is name recognition. Then there is the $$$ thing he has going for him this year. No drug arrests. No political leanings. He's still married to the same woman. He hasn't written a book about his fellow golfers. Oh yeah then there is that other thing ... he's good at what he does and he is a winner at what he does. I suppose the last two thoughts may have had some bearing on winning the honor.

Don't know the number but it was just enough losses to keep him from Athlete of the Year. |

| Re: Tiger Woods named AP Male Athlete of the Year LOL! But Tiger deserved this, although LT was very close. Tiger had the best year of his career this year, and is showing no signs of slowing down. It is also about time someone besides Lance Armstrong, who didn't deserve it, wins it... |

| Re: Tiger Woods named AP Male Athlete of the Year Athlete of the year is always so tough honestly i usually lean to someone i consider more accomplished.....like the reining Decathelon champion.........i just think winning something like that encompasses more over-all athletic prowess |

| Re: Tiger Woods named AP Male Athlete of the Year Yeah, it's not an easy thing to pick. I went with Roger Federer because, let's face it, no other athlete was even half as dominant in his/her sport as Federer was. He became the first man to win both Wimbledon and the U.S. Open in three consecutive years, he reached the finals in 16 of the 17 tournaments he entered (winning 12 of them), and went 27-1 in Grand Slam play. |
