Golden State Warriors advance

The Golden State Warriors have completed one of the biggest upsets in NBA Playoff history.

According to the Associated Press, "Baron Davis knew his tender hamstring would limit him, so Stephen Jackson took a huge load off Golden State's do-everything star... Davis and Jackson shot the ragtag Warriors right into the second round, capping perhaps the NBA's biggest playoff upset with yet one more memorable performance on their home floor... Davis willed his team on one good leg, shaking off a strained hamstring to score 20 points, Jackson made a franchise playoff-record seven 3-pointers, and Golden State became the first No. 8 seed to capture a best-of-seven playoff series with a 111-86 victory over the NBA-best Dallas Mavericks in Game 6 on Thursday night."

Cool Re: Golden State Warriors advance

Amazing. I picked Dallas in 7, so I thought Golden State had a shot, but not in this kind of dominating fashion. Dallas was lucky to win even 2 games.

I consider this the biggest collapase in NBA playoff history. The Mavs were 67-15 for crying out loud.

You know, I am not so sure it was a Mavs collapse as much as a bad match up for them...I watched the game last night, and besides Dallas not being able to hit any shots, they had trouble matching up with GS...they had trouble all year long with them...I think GS deserves a lot of credit for the win.

Bad match-up for not, if you win 67 games you shouldn't lose to an 8th seed. Not only are they the first #1 seed to be beaten by a #8 in a seven-game opening round series, but they also have the distinction of being the winningest team ever to bow out in the first round. It's an embarrassing collapse all the way around for Dallas, and a tremendous performance by the Warriors, especially Davis and Jackson.

Says who?...Golden State had their numbr all year...what was there record against GS this year?...that is what it came down to...and State made a trade that made them a faster team...what was the knock on Manning and the Colts...they couldn't get passed New England?...It doesn't matter what you do against the league...or what your record is...if match up badly, you match up badly...State had their number...they might have made the palyoffs on the last game of the season...but against Dallas...well Dallas had lost 5 in a row on the road in GS coming into last nights game...67 wins didn't mean a darn thing...

No. It's the playoffs. If you're a #1 seed, you need to put all that out of your mind, go out there and take care of business. The Mavericks failed at that task, and I don't mean to take anything away from the Warriors and the wonderful series they played, but there was no "second gear" for the Mavs. They never took their game to that next level, and whether that's on Dirk and the rest of the players or more on the coaches, they came out and played flat. Where were they in the second half, yesterday? Was there even another team on the court with Golden State, cause I sure didn't see one?

I agree with Lefty here: At 67-15, you have to win the series. They weren't even competitive.

You want to tell me that the road games were excusable, okay. But they lost on their home court once and could have easily lost 2 more, including losing a 21 point lead. That's inexcusable.

Why?...they got outplayed...they matched up badly...hello, GS showed up and played to their potential...they ran the Mavs silly...how is this all about the Big Bad mavs losing... I think it's about an underdog team matching up right and peaking at the right time of the season...

He's also injured, and I'm sure the Warriors are holding their collective breath that he's healthy enough to contribute in the next round. We may debate a lot of things about Golden State's victory over Dallas, but one thing's for certain -- they're wouldn't have been able to do it without him, nor will they last much longer in the playoffs if he's out.

Thats true, but he was playing with it hurting running around and doing the same things he always does, just not 100%, im interested to see if he'll take any days off or continue to play, like you said, when hes not in there they lose a big presence..
