| Re: What happened? Injuries - lack of on field leadership - no defense. This team seemed to have talent but failed to work as one. Lack of effort or heart was not the problem - mental breakdowns and lack of focus / preparation was. I think Richt needs to look long and hard at a few of his staff.
An example of quality coaching versus poor coaching. The OL was hit hard and weekly by the injury bug yet Coach Searels got them ready to play. They were not the weak link. On the other hand the defense led by Willie Martinez never seemed prepared and gave up points by the boat load.
The Bulldog defense gave up an average of 14 points a game over the four year period when VanGorder was DC - under Martinez the defense has progressively gone down hill - 16 points a game in his first year, 18 the next, 20 the next and a whopping 26 this year.
I could go on and on but it is what it is. I hope Richt makes some changes because if he doesn't the pressure will grow and I would hate to see him get hounded by the loons - he is the best head coach the Dawgs have ever had.
