Changes coming for Georgia's offensive line

ATHENS, Ga. --

Georgia coach Mark Richt said it might be time to shake up the offensive line.

After two strong performances to open the season, the Bulldogs' line struggled to protect quarterback Matthew Stafford against a fearsome South Carolina rush, and Georgia's ground game had difficulty finding room to run in Saturday's 14-7 win.
"The offensive line struggled, especially if you compare it to the first two games," Richt said. "We didn't block as well in the running game as a unit. We've got a ways to go."
The Bulldogs have rotated linemen in and out of the lineup since left tackle Trinton Sturdivant went down with a season-ending knee injury in preseason camp. In its opener, Georgia used four first-time starters on the line, then shifted in Week 2, when right tackle Clint Boling returned from a suspension.
While South Carolina clearly provided the line with its toughest test to date, it also marked the first time the same lineup started together in consecutive weeks. The result, however, wasn't encouraging.

Moving on to week 5 of the college season...

Richt says "Who is going to step up and block Cody this week?" the offensive linemen look up and down at each other. The they start to step back leaving freshman Jones grinning at the coach. Jones has no idea what he has just been volunteered to do. His teammates promise to stand together solidarity they proclaim. We will see how many friends Jones has come the 4th quarter. Cody is a monster...

Stoney would you be worried if Cody was playing for UGA?

I mean really - you guys practice against him and no one dies - you are able to move the ball I assume.

A quick look at the UGA depth chart says we will be OK - we have a little bigger OL than Bama.

I expect UGA will score - more than a few times

If Cody were playing against my team yeah I would be worried. The kid is big and nasty and has the NFL drooling. This kid singlehandedly can change the flow of a game. No one dies because they tell him to take it easy. Secondly your freshman center has never been tested or tried like this in his entire career. Go watch some practice film of Terrance Cody. You can then begin to understand how much he has matured and how big his heart is. The guy is a gamer!
