| Munson has blood clot removed from brain By CHIP TOWERS The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 04/05/08 Athens -- Georgia's legendary football play-by-play man Larry Munson was hospitalized Thursday and underwent surgery Friday for a subdural hematoma, or blood-clotting, in the brain, Georgia's athletic media-relations department announced Saturday in a news release. The surgical procedure was a success and is not expected to impact Munson's plans to call the Bulldogs' home games this season. Munson, who is 85 and in failing health, gave up doing road games last season because of decreased mobility. He has been Georgia's play-by-play man for more than 40 years. Munson went to St. Mary's Hospital to undergo a CT scan when the clots were discovered. He is expected to make a full recovery. "I was really pleased to hear that Larry's surgery went well on Friday," Georgia athletics director Damon Evans said in the news release. "All of us in the Bulldog Nation wish him a full and speedy recovery."
