| Hurt cheerleader out of hospital Conley diagnosed with mild to moderate concussion By CARTER STRICKLAND The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 03/24/08 University of Georgia cheerleader Christine Conley has been released from the hospital following a fall during the Lady Bulldogs opening round NCAA tournament game Sunday, said Georgia team physician Dr. Fred Reifspect. Conley was admitted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Sunday afternoon after hitting the back of her head on the court during a stunt being performed at the 14:18 mark of the second half. She was admitted to the hospital for observation and to undergo tests. Reifspect said Conley suffered a mild to moderate concussion but never lost consciousness. She did suffer a cut on the back of the head but it was not going to require more than one stitch, or none at all, to close the cut. Her parents, Cheryl and Charles Conley arrived in Norfolk Sunday night. The family is expected to make the trip back home Tuesday. "She is doing much better," Cheryl Conley said. "She will be OK and will recover." Conley, a senior from Millen, lay on the floor for several minutes while medical personnel attended to her. Her head and neck were immobilized and then take by stretcher off the floor. As she left the floor, Conley was able to lift her arm and wave to the crowd. "She really wants to thank everybody for their calls and their prayers and their support," Cheryl Conley said.
