NCAA President Myles Brand says he will neither support nor oppose University of Georgia President Michael Adams' proposal for an eight-team football playoff, but that he will speak with the Division I board of directors on Monday about forming a discussion group on the topic.
"We haven't even gotten the discussion going, and I don't know where we'll wind up," Brand said Tuesday, the day The Atlanta Journal-Constitution made Adams' plan public. "It's up to the board whether they want to form this committee and set the parameters for the discussion that would take place. ... I believe it's premature for me to take a position until any discussion takes place."
