Hawaii QB Brennan studies Bulldogs

By TONY BARNHART

New Orleans — If Hawaii loses to Georgia in tonight's Sugar Bowl, it won't be because Colt Brennan didn't do his homework.
Since the matchup became official on Dec. 2, Hawaii's quarterback has done everything in his power to become familiar with the speed and athleticism of the SEC in general and Georgia in particular. He saw an SEC defense up close and personal as a junior in 2006 when the Warriors went to Alabama and lost 25-17. He was impressed.

More Sugar Bowl

I am pulling for him, but I thnk he will get the same impression. Georgia is a better team than they faced last year. I want it to be close, but I don't think they will be able to handle Georgia.

If Georgia plays like they have over the last part of the season and sticks to the same type of game plan it won't even be close Hawaii can't defend the run they gave up over 200 yards rushing in thier last game alone and this is not some WAC defense they are playing agianst.

Apparently, Colt didn't study hard enough.

Hawaii was simply an over hyped media darling that played nobody while running the table. I bet they could play this game next week and the same thing would happen - maybe worse.

Hawaii operates that funky run & shoot system in an second tier conference - look at the QB ratings for the #2 & #3 guys on the team. Bogus numbers in a weak conference mean nothing.

I think for the level of talent Hawaii has, they did fine...nothing for them to be ashamed of this season...I think they needed a major upgrade on the Offensive Line to compete in a major Bowl...but by the same token, they were not upset this year like the rest of the country

They didn't play anybody and they escaped by a nats butt a few times to bad teams. The bottom line - Hawaii is not ready to play with the big boys.

Not only the OL but defense as well. They put ten in the box and couldn't stop UGA's ground game.

Hawaii was in over their head. They didn't belong in this bowl.
