| Stafford familiar with corner By Marc Weiszer | marc.weiszer@onlineathens.com | Story updated at 11:55 PM on Friday, December 28, 2007 NEW ORLEANS - Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford and Hawaii cornerback Myron Newberry, who will go up against each other in Tuesday night's Sugar Bowl, already have some postseason history together. Their two high school teams met in the Texas Class 4A Division II state semifinals when Stafford was a sophomore at Highland Park High School and Newberry was a senior at Denton Ryan. "I threw a touchdown the first play of the game and I thought we were going to rout them," Stafford said Friday. "They beat us pretty good." Stafford struck first with a 72-yard touchdown pass, but Newberry's team got the last laugh with a 45-21 win. "That was a good defense," Stafford said. "They had a bunch of guys go D-1. They took it to us. They burned us deep a couple of times at Texas Stadium." The rest of the story
