(Georgia Sports Information) ATHENS, Ga. -- UGA linebackerhad busy week to remember BY DAVID CHING dching@ledger-enquirer.com ---- Georgia linebacker Chris Gaunder was named a team captain for the Ole Miss game -- a special honor for the former walk-on -- and that wasn't even the highlight of his week. Not when only a few days earlier, he received the phone call he'd been hoping for, informing him that he was accepted to Mercer University's School of Medicine. "I got awarded captain on Monday and I think by Wednesday or Thursday, I got accepted to med school," Gaunder said with a wide grin. "It was just a crazy week." The letter of acceptance arrived the following week, making everything official. Gaunder has already paid his enrollment deposit and after graduating in December with a degree in cellular biology, he'll prepare to begin medical school next August. Future Doctor
