| Dogs' Lumpkin may be lost for season By CARTER STRICKLAND The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 10/14/07 Athens — A week after losing senior running back Thomas Brown, Georgia has lost senior running back Kregg Lumpkin. And while Brown may make it back by the Florida game Oct. 27, Lumpkin could be gone for the year. "He may or may not finish the season," Georgia coach Mark Richt said Sunday. "He has got a significant injury to the knee and he is not going to play anytime soon." Lumpkin suffered the injury at the end of a run against Vanderbilt Saturday when he was stood up and then was hit low. At first it was thought he just had a high left ankle sprain. In fact, Lumpkin was taped up and was about to be put back into the game, but when he tried to warm back up it was obvious his left knee had also been damaged. "(Director of Sports Medicine Ron Courson) is very optimistic that it would not require major surgery," Richt said. Dogs' Lumpkin may be lost for season | ajc.com
