| Georgia left with numerous questions after stunning loss BY DAVID CHING - dching@ledger-enquirer.com -- ATHENS, Ga. Mark Richt cited a lack of energy. Mike Bobo said it was like his team was "shell-shocked." However Georgia's coaches chose to describe the Bulldogs' 35-14 loss to Tennessee on Saturday, they were hinting that only one team behaved like it had something to play for at Neyland Stadium. And it wasn't Georgia, which slipped from 12th to 24th in Sunday's Associated Press poll after its decisive loss the day before. "We just dug a bigger and bigger hole," Richt said. "We couldn't do anything to break the cycle of their energy and excitement. Someone's gotta make a play." Both teams came in hoping to stay in the Southeastern Conference's Eastern Division race, knowing that a second SEC loss might be enough to knock them out of the hunt. As Georgia (4-2, 2-2 SEC) prepares to visit Vanderbilt (3-2, 1-2), division title hopes are much further down its list of concerns than they were a few days ago. | Re: Georgia left with numerous questions after stunning loss the Bulldogs were continuously either out of position or unable to make the tackle when they were. And most of the passes that Ainge was completing wasn't even a dawg within yards of the receiver. And of course we know how they blew holes in our defensive front. Lots of work to do just to get ready for Vandy. Man I hope this loss doesn't send the season into a spiral like last year's Tn loss did. |
