Dogs RB Brown out with broken collarbone

Moreno, Lumpkin could share duties 'close to 50-50'

Athens — Adding injury to insult, Georgia has now lost senior running back Thomas Brown for four to six weeks due to a broken collarbone.
It is believed Brown injured the collarbone in a 35-14 loss to Tennessee Saturday. But Georgia coach Mark Richt couldn't be 100 percent certain that Brown didn't suffer the injury the previous week against Ole Miss and played through the pain.

Do you think this might force them to play Caleb King after all?

No I think they can make it work with Lump and Moreno. They have some other guys (walk on's mostly) that could be asked to play a little. They were making it with just two while Lump was out so they will most likely try and continue with two. Now is something terrible happens all bets are off but I would hate to see King waste a year.

Re: Dogs RB Brown out with broken collarbone

Ching's blog has some good comments about some of the questions I know at least I had. Here's a couple excerpts as they apply to this particular thread discussion:

Rethinking Caleb King redshirting?
As of right now, we would not. You’ve got Knowshon, you’ve got Lumpy, you’ve got Jason Johnson and you’ve also got Chapas. So at this point I would not do that. And you’ve even got Kalvin Daniels.

and

On when Thomas might be back:
I didn’t look down the road. Gosh it might not be till Georgia Tech. We’ve played six and got six to go with an open date. And you know, sometimes bones’ll heal in more of a 4-6-week period, so I’m not gonna sit here and say it’s gonna be six. But 4-6 is probably more realistic, or at least the range for how fast he can come back. But I guess they have ways now to MRI bones and all that stuff to really feel comfortable that it’s completely healed before he goes back out there. If he heals bones like he rehabs ACLs, who knows?

This is a heal-on-its-own type thing?
Yeah, it’s a more of a crack or a fracture or whatever. It didn’t like, break. Whether they need to put any pins in it or anything like that…

Yeah, I favor the developing of Moreno anyway...so now the backfield is a bit less crowded. Too bad though, Brown had played well the game before.
