My Goodness!!!

I have never seen a team play like they did Saturday. Again, this is another week where we are not ready to play. Maybe Mark Richt is too nice of a guy. Our offense play calling looks like a highschool playbook compared to any one else's in the SEC. Look at LSU, we are not even in their league.
Both our offense and defenses are too predictable. Sorry Mark Richt, we will never win a national championship until you get a little mean, hire a GOOD offensive/defensive coordinators. Get someone that disagrees with you a little. Let's try someone that just does not go with your plan or someone you have trained.

WE ARE HORRIBLE RIGHT NOW AND WE WILL GET BEAT BY TROY, PROBABLY BY VANDY AGAIN. I THOUGHT RAY GOFF WAS GONE!!! WHERE IS THE OLD FLORIDA STATE PLAYBOOK? THEY HAD IMAGINATION. OR WAS THAT BOWDEN'S?

I think a lot of the problems stem from youth and inexperience. I'll give Richt and staff a little room to show improvement. Tenn had 2 weeks to get ready for the game and it showed.

I'll hold judgement until the final game.

Re: My Goodness!!!

A lot of teams are young. Florida has more young players than we do.

3 areas concern me:

1. Offensive play calling

2. QB progression and growth (Stafford is still lacking key fundamentals for a QB at this stage)

3. Defense

If we finish 07 in dismal fashion - particularly after having a mediocre season last year - then I think fans and alumni are going to be climbing up Richt's rope demanding some changes to assistant coaches.

I agree and don't forget a defense that doesn't defend. I'm not sure about Florida's starting 22 being younger. The OL were all starters last year - big difference.

You still sold on Richt - just questioning his staff?

Re: My Goodness!!!

Let me see if I can find the article about the freshmen and sophomores on FL team. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure they have more than we do.

I have no problems with Richt at this point. Martinez and Bobo - yes I am concerned about (both of which make up my 3 areas of concern). Our defense looked pitiful yesterday. Our offensive play calling was highly suspect. And Stafford still is lacking fundamentals that I expect to see in a 2d yr QB. A lot of people have stated about how the line is too young to block. Well if you get a chance, then look at the replays of the games and just focus on the blocking from OL see how many times Stafford has time but his fundamentals are lacking.

If - IF - we finish in dismal fashion this year and Richt blames it on the youth excuse, thus refuses to can any coaches, then what's he going to say in 08 if the same problems plague the team? Will it be then "we have some key graduations"?

Re: My Goodness!!!

I found this one touting the OL
Florida Gators at a glance

I agree with your thoughts on Stafford and think he is uncomfortable. Look how many of his throws go high

Re: My Goodness!!!

Thanks for the article. Good read. I can't find what I read but it referred to sum total of youth on FLorida's team on both def and offense. I just remember it was more youth than ours. Maybe I dreamed it lol but seriously I know I read it. Just to satisfy my curiosity I just now went to both teams rosters and compared it. Comes from here:

University of Florida Athletics ***GatorZone.com***

Football - Roster - GeorgiaDogs.com—Official Athletic Site of the University of Georgia

Totals:
UGA
Fr = 24
So = 8
Jr = 20
Sr = 22

FLA
Fr = 34
So = 13
Jr = 4
Sr = 8

UGA
RFR = 27
RSO = 10
RJR = 0
RSR = 0

FLA
RFR = 23
RSO = 17
RJR = 12
RSR = 5

Re: My Goodness!!!

Good food for thought but the most telling thing I see is the OL advantage Fla has.

On another note look at Auburn and the youth they are playing now due to injuries.

Exactly. It's another example of how youth is on other teams yet they fair well.
