That may be so young fella but let me give you a little friendly advice. If you want a tranquil life with that bride-to-be of yours you might want to forget you ever read it.

That picture is so like how our family was back in the 50's. Dad coming home from work, mom staying at home cooking and cleaning, and me and my little sister always getting in the way. The only thing missing is the dog.

That kinda stuff would work on a guy, but few are they (females who would agree )...Likewise though, there has to be a similar list for gentlemen to follow...can't really be one sided.

Bette, care us to find us the complimentary list...and see what reactions there is to it?

BTW, why are you objecting? Cause there isn't an equal list posted or because one mate should not care for another in such fashion?...be specific...

Ok, I am sorry for thinking that Cadillacman underlined the really stupid parts of the story he posted.

Oh yes it most certainly can.

No there isnt an equal list posted anywhere because even though this was posted in a woman's magazine it had to come from a man. Only a man would come up with this sort of stuff.
Why am I objecting??? What century are you living in?

So write your own freakin list...no one is stopping ya...leave our list alone...

As for century...Once upon a time gentlemen were gentlemen and ladies were ladies...what is wrong with say, "standing up when a lady enters a room, etc?"...

As long as there is an equal and opposite list, there is nothing wrong with putting the needs of the person you love ahead of your own...it would make the world go round much nicer...

BTW, as far as the list goes...that is a modified version...I read something about that in the Urban Legend web site...the real list it came from was a bit similar, but not to the point of being insulting (as this one is...)

no it wasn't a black eye, she gave me "the look"

i don't care if you are Jack Bauer, when a woman gives you "the look" you just need to shut up and don't say nothing for a while

Goth, get your head out of the sand. It has nothing to do with equal and opposite in the least. IF it was about equal and opposite, it would be worded a whole lot different.
And there is nothing wrong with a gentleman being a gentleman and a lady being a lady. I love it every single time a male holds a door open for me. And equal and opposite would be good. There would be a lot more happy male-female relationships if there were.
I have read something similar to the list also. The one I saw wasnt as insulting as this one was either.

as much as the Mrs would kill me for saying this...i gotta agree with you there Goth...if a man were to do those things than he would be made fun of by his peers and be in a 'whipped' relationship...but if a woman did that then all of a sudden there is an uproar about us no longer living in the 1940's

don't get me wrong i am neither a chauvinist nor a 'house husband' but there are certain days when i get home first and i may run a bath for my fiancee...similarly when i come back from playing football on sundays she rubs my aches and pains (for those of you with a 13 year old mind you can laugh like a schoolboy here)

but i would however like to put this question to people...if you were in a restaurant with someone of the opposite sex and the waiter(ess) gave the menu to the MAN first and gave a menu to the woman second, would that be wrong?...similarly, if at the end of the meal the waiter(ess) proceeded to hand the WOMAN the bill, would that be wrong?

The part in red, thats exactly what equal and opposite is alex.
As for the last paragraph, you open a can of worms there. Did the woman indicate that she was paying the bill? IF she didnt, maybe it wouldnt be wrong,-- wait a minute, I think I see where you are leading me with this one.
Ok. so none of this or the first thread is wrong. Its about treating each other with respect and decency. So if the woman agreed to pay the bill, it is the thing to do.
And if the woman in the first thread agrees to that treatment and ideas, then she is a head case!
