Re: What's yours ???

I used to not watch any TV, but it seems the older I've gotten, the more I watch. I guess that's because when I get off work, all I want to do is get home, eat, get in the recliner and watch TV, or mess around on the computer. I just don't go anywhere on a week night. So here's the list of shows I watch, when they're on (not sports related)...

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Prison Break
Heroes
Fringe
Life on Mars
Battlestar Gallactica (if it will ever come back on)
24
American Idol (when it's on)
Smallville
Deadliest Catch
Ice Road Truckers
Sons of Anarchy (just ended for the season)
Movies on Turner Classic Movie Channel and Encore's Westerns Channel

I agree! I love westerns and Deadwood was great. It took a while to get used to the way they talked, kind of Shakespearean I guess, but once I got it, I loved it.

Many don't realize that the way they spoke in that show was not fiction. Maybe the obscenities were, I don't believe many of the rather descriptive terms Swearengen, Tolliver or Wu used were in common use during that period. I've read many of the Bard's plays and I don't recall him ever using the corse term for someone who performs fellatio, for example. (Which was almost one of Swearengen's signature lines!)
If you get a chance, go to the library and search out some newspaper articles written in the late 19th Century. They written very much like Deadwood was written. Like today, newspapers then were printed to accomodate the reading skills of an educated 5th grader.

I'd tend to believe that Bob. I've always thought the westerns Hollywood put out going all the way back to the beginning, weren't very accurate when it came to how things really were in the old west.

Re: What's yours ???

I don't watch much regular TV.

But I do like Dexter on Showtime.
Son's of Anarchy on FX
Law and Order re-runs (I know it's been on forever, and seems a bit predictable, but I still like it)

Almost anything on Speed Channell and lots of other sports.

I hate the current trend towards reality TV, and most shows seem to be leaning that way.

I used to really like watching House, but lost interest.

Given a choice, from about March to November, I'd rather be doing something outiside.

Riding my Motorcycle, washing the vehicles, doing yardwork, attending sporting event, almost anything that doesn't have me stuck inside!

Re: What's yours ???

Other than some selected sporting events I watch very little, but here's my list.

CSI - Miami
NCIS
Criminal Minds
CSI
South Park

Absolutley NO Reality shows

Will watch some HGTV with my bride

In the re-runs department I'll watch MASH, Law & Order

Game shows I'll watch ... Jeopardy & Millionaire

Not big on talk shows.

Celtic's, Red Sox, any good match up in the NFL and naturally NASCAR.

There are a few other shows I'll watch on occasion but not with any regularity. I have to come to GTG to make sure Bette is behaving.

Excuse meeee??????? Bette always behaves. I almost missed this way down at the bottom.

Otherwise, not a tv fan. When I get done playing on here, I read a book. Unless there is a good game on.
I too hate reality shows. My grandkids watch them.
I do want to watch the Mentalist sometime.
My hubbie watches Cops. I hear enough of it to understand what Bob says about losers.
Sometimes hubbie has something on the History or Animal planet channel that catches my interest.

I neglected to include Criminal Minds. Great chemistry between the characters, except I'm not warming up to the new chick who took the pregnant blond's slot.

Come to think of it, that's the reason I like all the network shows I mentioned, the chemistry between the cast. Which is why I have not followed the Real CSI this season. I never liked Sara and her leaving didn't bother me but when they killed off Brown, that hurt the show. Grissom's being replaced by Lawrence Fishburne will finally do it in, I fear. The last couple years the music on the show as become louder and now it reminds me of the politically correct CSI Miami without the multiple layered screens.

Another one I omitted was The Unit. Every time I see Dennis Haysbert do the GEICO commercial with Kasey and the stalkers bump into the car behind them, I expect him to turn around and blast them with a Mac-10.

!0-4 on the so-called reality shows (Survivor, Biggest Loser, Amazing Race, etc., etc). They're about as spontaneous as a shotgun wedding.

I think maybe it would be best to avoid the links for now, ok, sports?
