It seemed to me that the writer gave an awful lot of credit to the media. For sure newspapers keep to the facts, but ESPN and others like to blow everything out of proportion. You have to do a lot of digging to get past the garbage and get to the truth of the matter.
Blogs are heavy on opinion and short on facts sometimes.
I agree that newspapers cater to the advertisers. Its a competitive business and a lot of them are failing. Maybe newspapers will become a thing of the past.

I have a lot less respect for bloggers than I do for the real media, but that's not really saying much.

Newspapers keep to the facts? Possibly sometimes, but even newspapers can become corrupt. As any media, they're edited to the preference of the editor or the writter. Anything media pretty much takes 1 side. There's always usually 2 sides to a story and the media will take either side depending on how the editor feels. I think newspapers, espn, anything media can be bias in one way or another. That's why nowadays it's so hard to make a judgement because there's always too sides and 1 side is always against the other and will do anything to prove their point.

You are probably right on that. I was thinking about a local newspaper we get. You know, like so and so was arrested for , or local sports team loses, etc. about the only page its one sided is the editorial page. Its not much of a paper, but the other half of the family reads it.
