Food Fight!!!

I can't remember if we ever settled this topic on here or not. So this is as good as a time as any. Let's talk food.

First topic. Barbeque-

Everybody thinks that that they know what "real" barbeque is; and that anybodyelse's is manure. So let's talk shop.

__________________________________________________ _____________

I was born and raised in North Carolina. So vinegar based is the best. Sorry. End of story. There is a BBQ place in Salisbury N.C. called T&F's Barbeque that has the best that I have ever tasted.

But my girlfriend and her family... Lord help them... They went another way. They believe in mustard based. And they believe in a BBQ joint in Columbia S.C. named Little Pigs. Now don't get me wrong. It's not bad. But the vinegar based still kicks it's butt.

Of course I'm sure there are folks out there that think that tomato based is better. Why, I don't know. You're eating ketchup. And so on, and so on.

So let the debate on food begin. And not just B.B.Q. Let's debate it all.

Re: Food Fight!!!

I'm lazy. So I just go with the Kraft bottled sauce. All I have to do then is add my syrup or honey and garlic to it and its done.

Probably so. I use to make my bbq sauce and spaghetti sauce and all, but not now. Now it's just me and the hubby and I go for the convience stuff now.

Re: Food Fight!!!

Switching from bbq to mashed potatoes. How does everyone cook them? I add milk, butter and mayonnaise.

My grandma always used mayo and after all those years of eating them that way, I can't eat them without it now.

Re: Food Fight!!!

Hmm never tried mayo. Butter, milk, maybe some shredded cheddar, maybe cream cheese, chives.
Obviously not all at the same time. Everyone loves mashed potatoes. Have to peel a lot extra potatoes when I make them mashed no matter who is here.
Do you think addict has recovered from knowing we use bottled barbecue sauce?

Re: Food Fight!!!

I just remembered. The place in Columbia that my baby's family likes... It's name is Piggy Park, Little Pigs. Little Pigs is a place in the Upstate of South Carolina.

By the way, I have made B.B.Q. Chicken on the grill with a Kaft starter kit. But I added to it.

Also, have any of ya'll ever went to Firehouse Subs? They have the most "HOT DARN" sauce you'll ever tase. I've made B.B.Q. sauce out of that before.

Re: Food Fight!!!

I'm weird I don't like BBQ sauce, or ketchup.

But I make great mashed potatoes, lots of milk(makes them real creamy), butter, italian seasoning, and garlic powder.

Firehouse has very good subs

There is a little butcher shop about 20 miles north of Seattle. Double D meats. They have 1500 varieties of hot sauce. I like the Nuclear stuff. But I gotta agree on the BBQ sauce. Vinager based rocks. Grandpas (was best)could never be duplicated. I tried many times, never successful. Grandpas was Tennessee style. Real smokey. Now ya gone and done it. I'm gonna be salivating all night now.

Re: Food Fight!!!

When I make mashed potatoes I cut up onions and garlic and throw it in with the potatoes while they are boiling. Mash them all up together with sour cream butter and a little milk. Salt and pepper of course. I don't peel the suckers either just scrub em a bit.
