POST 1
8/02/09

Well my life seems to be a downward spiral since that car accident. It was about a month and half ago but I have not even come close to getting over it. I have to pay $120 a month now. Due to football I can only work 1 or 2 days a week at the grocery store which is about $50 dollars a week on average. Last week I worked one say and made $35. That number will most likely go down as football becomes more frequent thus making extra money non-existent to me.

Now I was just starting to get OK with my financial stand point. But of course something terrible has to happen. Today I get a letter from Gieco saying the claim for the accident was more than the coverage I had ($10,000). I really did not think the accident would come close to that. I did not expect that to be a problem. When the accident first happened we were told it should be covered by the $10,000. It was the other drivers back door and I suppose her front door too. And of course since it is my life it HAD to be a BMW. The insurance agent said the car model does not make a difference in the repair though. In the letter Gieco did not give too many details, they basically explained the claim exceeded the coverage and they would do their best to keep it under our coverage, if they can't do that, we need to pay it. So of course I'm worrying about that since I don't know the exact number and I'm expecting the worst. I have about $1,000 in the bank but I'm sure it will be MUCH more. I also don't see how hard Gieco would fight for my case, I mean why would they care how much I have to pay extra if they are paying the $10,000 anyway. You know what I mean? That is why I have no hope in the situation, I just think Gieco will say screw it and pay their $10,000 unless they feel confident they can bring it a lot lower. Anyone want to shine some light on this for me?

Sorry, Cougar!

That's a tough situation! Some people get in an accident, and hardly get a slap, but others really get hit hard! Sounds like you got the rough end of that deal!

Hopefully, the insurance company can figure somthing out-- ur rates are going to go up as it is, so to have to pay more for the BMW makes it really tough!

POST 2

I think this will be the last time I use the post heading. Instead this thread will pretty much be me complaining about football camp. I have triple-sessions starting wendsday. 8 hour practices at the minimum. It really sucks. Then we are going away to a camp in Connecticut for 5 days which is going to be HELL. Not sure how I am going to survive. So yeah I will be gone for those 5 days. Expect me to come on and complain about the days practice when I get home.

POST 3

Before I go into other details I thought I would bring in updates on the accident. The claim settled below $10,000. Everything is OK with that now. Anyway applying to college is a huge hassle. The major I want is film. That is only offered by a few schools, most of which are extremely hard to get into. This means some of the schools I could get into, that don't offer my major, would be a waste of time. So that brings me to a huge decision in my life. Do I go to the community college for a year or two? Bring up my grades and transfer to a good college that has my major? Most out of state colleges cost about $50,000 a year after all expenses. My community college would be about $3,000 a year. So I would save a TON of money. Only thing is, I don't get that 4 year experience. A lot of people would say choose fun over money, but its a little different in this case. On top of that I'm not even sure if I can get my major if I go in as a junior. A lot of schools now have you specializing as a sophomore. Which could cause me to miss out. My football team just finished the regular season with a record of 1-4. So now it is just Bowl and conciliation games left. After that I should get on the forum much more. Anyone have any words of wisdom for my college situation?

For a film major I recommend something like "Full Sail" in Orlando, they specialize in things like that.

Or even UCF here is rather cheap compare to most college programs and the film school is pretty good... those people that did "Blair Witch Project" came out of that program I believe.

POST 4

Football is almost over. Our last game as a team is on friday and my last game as a player ever. Only problem is that I sprained my MCL yesterday in practice. The trainer told me to sleep on it and come back to him tomorrow and see how I feel. He says I should see a specialist at some point because he thinks there is a bigger problem below my knee cap. He says when I see a doctor is up to me depending on how much I want to play on Friday. I'm really not sure what to do. Anyone know how to make an MCL heal faster?

POST 5

I ended up playing in the game last night after I got my knee taped up. Football season is over now. I'm getting scheduled for an MRI to see if they can find anything.
