Like it or not he has paid his debt to society ....according to the justice system at least. How he manages his future will be the determining factor on how well he survives in the free world.

I am not condoning Michael Vick's behavior by any means. But other than the fact he has paid his debt to society, it seems to me that there were other people involved in this dogfighting ring. If I remember correctly, dogfighting is quite common in the south, and is found in other areas of the country.
So why so much anger against just against Vick? Why isnt it spread out a little more?

There are other football players that are involved.
Other sports figures too.
I think some of this anger should be pointed towards the whole dogfighting thing. Not just one individual.

I agree Bette...I find what he did disgusting! But here in south florida dog fighting is a big thing and for the most part the law turns a blind eye and the people involved in this rarely see jail time.
In this case it wasn't the crime itself but rather who committed this awful crime.

I'm not saying all of these dogs are fighters or vicious dogs. I'm just saying this breed of dog was bred to do one thing.

To a degree you are correct but ....... you need to place more blame on the justice system. The system gave to Michael Vick just what it calls for. The ones getting away with it because of who they are NOT is as big a crime as what Vick did get nailed for. Unfortunately the justice system can only deal with so much before the system gets overloaded. Vick was seen as an opportunity to try and show others what CAN and SHOULD happen ... it just doesn't.

There is a whole line of discussion here that could turn political in a heart beat. Lets just say that Vick broke the law, got caught, was prosecuted and served his time. He is now free to pursue his future dreams. Too many others get away with this crime because of what you stated ... they are not famous and are not worth the effort.

Keep in mind also that football itself needed to show that they would not OK this behavior. With all of the steroid issues, they just didn't need to look like they approved of its players being involved in this type of activity.
