ok, the biggest problem that i have with Yahoo is, it seems to end right after the regular season...............which of course is totally unacceptable

as for the rules i laid out: those were just ideas i had, not at all written in stone. i was just throwing things out there, food for thought. i think it needs to be ironed out asap so when week 1 arrives we're all set to go.

im totally opposed to using the point spread in any form (if i pick the 49ers to beat the colts i want it outright, like i said above). other then that im open to most any idea

lets make it the most fun it can be

i do like that the "confidence" system seems to make it easy for someone to have a rough week then catch right back up the next week

id hate for someone to fall behind week 1 then basically have no hope the rest of the season

Glad you like the confidence pool, I have been playing in confidence pools for more than 20 years, the points placed on each game make a huge difference. Put your low confidence in upsets and sometimes you can win the weekly pool even though you picked fewer games correctly. It is fun and can generate a lot of interest and chat here.

Re: 2006 Predictions Threads

in the confidence system do you lose the points when youre wrong, or only add points when youre right ?

would suck if you put 16 points on a game then lost it lol

also, how does it work with the play-offs and super bowl ? we need to include those

Re: 2006 Predictions Threads

Yes, you only count the points on games you win, or the opposite and count the points you lose since this is usually faster and easier to do. As for playoffs, we always had a totally seperate deal but I have an idea. Figure out just how many playoff games there are and use that number for points. Make the first round games rated from 1-4 points, the next week the games are 5-8 and so on so that the points risked increase each week until the Super Bowl.

Re: 2006 Predictions Threads

I work on the site tomorrow when I have some free time. It can be a test for now, until you approve of it. It should only take me a half hour to have it up and running. I'll make a special email for you to read all the submitted information, simplesimon and whoever else is helping us run the league.

Re: 2006 Predictions Threads

GoTeamsGo Football Predictions website has been updated so that you can all send in your picks for week one of the NFL season. The rules have been posted, too.

By the way, simplesimon, you must activate your e-mail address so that you get the picks. I'll forward them to your e-mail until you do so. Thanks.

Re: 2006 Predictions Threads

Oh, I'll fix that for you right now. I had to wait until you confirmed the e-mail address before I could add it to the recepients of the picks. I just forwarded you Lefty Noob's selections for Week One of the NFL Season. You should have recieved a confirmation e-mail with your picks, Lefty Noob. We got them so don't worry.

Re: 2006 Predictions Threads

This sounds great. I'll post a global announcement for it. Anybody want to give me suggested content for what the announcement should say?

Make sure I have this straight...

Members will hit the xanga site every week to place their picks. MJHMarc will update the options every week to reflect the games for that week.

Once a member submits, MJHMarc or simple simon or whoever will post those picks into the prediction thread here.

Somebody will keep a running total on how each member is doing thru the season.

Is there gonna be a weekly thread where we post that week's predictions? And maybe 1 thread that is the official season standings thread?

If we've got 1 person in charge of this or of any particular aspect, we need to have at least 1 other who can do it in case the normal person can't get to it on time.

What other procedural things need to be worked out to make sure we're pretty smooth with the start?

Ross

Re: 2006 Predictions Threads

ok ross, here's the deal

Marc and I am putting this together for everyone

each week he will maintain the xanga site, and i will update the scoreboard

scoring:
1 point for each correct pick

1 point for each correct bonus question answered (2 or 3 questions each week)

5 points if you can correctly guess the score of the MNF game exactly

the members will go to the xanga site from here to make their predictions, then if they would, they come back here and post their choices.....we are leaving picking open until 1 hour before opening kick-off and I wouldnt be able to post everyones pick before we start

the scoreboard will be updated every week right after the MNF game

if anyone can think of anything else before we start please let us know

Re: 2006 Predictions Threads

How about we have 1 "Scoreboard" thread for the entire season. I can make it so that it's a sticky thread and also so that only you & MJHMarc are posting to it.
