Culpepper: Overrated Boob

is anyone in agreement with me here ?

i think he is about as overrated as it gets

he was nothing before or after Moss

he only looked good when Moss was there because Moss made catches no one else would

i really think without one of the top 2 WR's in the league Culpepper isnt even a real good quality backup

Re: Culpepper: Overrated Boob

Well, he's got a great arm, he's fast and he's one of the best built QBs when it comes to size. However, I agree with you that with Moss available, he would simply throw the ball in the air and Moss would come down with it.

I feel he will be able to grow as a QB with Linehan in Miami but will he be MVP quality? Perhaps someday, but not right away.

You say over rated boob, I sat the shinniest star my alma mater (UCF) has ever produced...probably worth a few extra percentage points of prestige on my Engineering degree...so cut him some slack...Moss aside, before the knee injury, he was also a good runner who once scored double digits on the ground in one season, his lifetime PCT of 91.5 also places him in elite company, so I don't think it was all Moss.

Cool Re: Culpepper: Overrated Boob

He only had 1 year without Moss and then he had that whole boat incident and the injury. I think he's pretty good but not great but let's see what he can do this year.

Re: Culpepper: Overrated Boob

He was a fantastic QB at UCF, no doubt about it. Jury's still out on him as a star or a fluke in the NFL, though. I'm guessing he's still got what it takes to succeed, but as you guys point out, it definitely helps having a weapon like Moss. Any of his targets at Miami even close to being that good?

When Chambers gets on a roll he is up there with them...he had a 15 catch 238 yard performance in a game last year...and ended up at 82-1118-11...and they didn't have a QB of Daunte's caliber.

there is a long list of QB's that were fantastic in college and didnt amount to a hill of beans in the NFL

and none of them had anything like Moss

i mean im sorry, but im just so tired of so many "experts" talking like Culpepper is such a great QB when he had argueably the best reciever in the league in Moss

people have won Super Bowls with much less then Moss

Come on man...Leaf, Mier?...like him or not...Daunte has a +91 QB rating in his career...it was not all Moss...If it was...what happened to the darling Moss out in Oakland last year?...Collins should have hada field day with him.

actually, yes

i think all QB's are overrated

i think most peoples perception of what makes em great is out of whack

is it yards ? then as ive stated elsewhere Bledsoe should be great in a couple years

is it Super Bowls ? if so Trent Dilfer won one, no one here will call him great i bet

is it passer rating ? if so Kurt Warner, Trent Green, Jeff Garcia, Rich Gannon, and Brad Johnson are all in the top 20 all time. anyone want to talk about their greatness ?

doubt it

simple simon is exactly right culpepper looked so good because of moss. if moss wasnt on the team culpepper would looked horrible.

Yep, 7 out of 9 for 86 yards is actually a giid outing...he was sacked twice which is not all his fault..his O-line has to share the blame...so much for a bad outing...

Re: Culpepper: Overrated Boob

The eighth-year pro played into the second quarter, completing 7 of 9 passes for 86 yards and leading a nine-minute touchdown drive after producing little offense on his team's first three possessions

Tampa Bay's Barrett Ruud and Anthony McFarland sacked Culpepper on consecutive plays in the first quarter, with the first hit causing a fumble that Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown recovered at the Miami 18.
Ruud later tested the quarterback's mobility, chasing him out of the pocket and forcing Culpepper to throw a pass that was ruled intentional grounding when the ball failed to get back to the line of scrimmage.

ESPN.com - NFL - Recap

so let's see

it took him 4 drives to score one touchdown, on the way he was sacked twice, fumbled and had intentional grounding

yeah youre right, real good outing

he's the man
