Re: NFL Head Coach video game I have the game for my PS2. I would have acquired it for my Xbox 360, but they do not produce it for that console. Oh well. I started off my coaching career with the New Orlean Saints (but I also recieved offers from the Jets, Lions, Raiders and Rams). I quickly made some quick trades for the upcoming NFL Draft where I acquired Reggie Bush (who stinks), Santonio Holmes, Mario Williams and D'Brickashaw Ferguson. I also completed some trades by mistake, giving away Aaron Brooks for Josh McNown. I am a Kurt Warner-fan so I thought I was trading Brooks for Warner but I messed up in the transaction. I'll lay down my top players on offense below. QB-Drew Brees HB-Richie Anderson FB-Reggie Bush (80 OVR at FB, 69 OVR at HB) WR-Joe Jurveous, Santonio Holmes TE-Boo Williams

Re: NFL Head Coach video game No, you don't get to actually play as the players. You coach, calling plays, signing players, handling the draft, even hiring and firing assistant coaches. It's a sports management sim, much like the old Baseball Mogul games. If you're more into controlling the on-field action, hang on a few weeks until NCAA 2007 comes out.

Re: NFL Head Coach video game Marc, good to see someone else around here who's playing this thing. I finished my career on Saturday, retiring as the #1 coach in the Hall of Legends with 7 Super Bowl titles, 8 NFC Championships and something like 5 or 6 coach of the year awards during a 16 or 17 year career (sorry, I can't remember exactly). Keep us updated on how you're doing, okay?

Re: NFL Head Coach video game I'll play it tonight so that I can give you a full progress-report tomorrow. I think I might simulate some practices because most of the players are at the top of their potential. Just to tell you, I tried to pull off a trade a few days ago. Drew Brees for Vince Young and Steve McNair. I know it sounds bad, but I would've traded Vince Young for Matt Leinart directly after. Anyway, the GM got mad at my irrational offers and hung up on me. How rude!

Re: NFL Head Coach video game I thought I would have more time to give you a detailed analysis of my team. Unfortunately, I must leave tomorrow for a three-week vacation. But isn't there more to life than posting on a sports forum? Anyway, the New Orleans Saints are looking decent. I am not going to tell you that they look amazing, because they don't. They look like you average professional football team. That is all I can really say right now. We had some minor issues in practice catching up all the players to their potential, but I think we did a good job. By our practices, you can distinguish that either our defense is tight on passing, or my passing-game is horrible. It is one of those two. Drew Brees has completed some beautiful passes and some which are just dispicable. I'm not sure if this means he is inconsistent, but he doesn't seem like the best possible quarterback I could have required. I saved the game right before my first preseason game, so it is too late to talk trades. But don't worry because I have two more years left on my contract. Plus, the owner and me have a great relationship (or so I think). Richie Anderson can always find holes in my defense to squeeze through. I have no doubts about him this season. Mario Williams keeps on pushing past D'Brickashaw Ferguson in 1 on 1 practice. That doesn't look great to a coach, but I have my hopes on Ferguson. He should/better do well in the season or else I don't see him returning next year. Oh yes, I did say that. Santonio Holmes might be my best reciever. I had Jimmy Smith, before I swapped him for Drew Brees. I still have Peerless Price, but he isn't anything special these days. Joe Jurvecious is a decent wide-out to have, but I wouldn't name him my franchise player anytime soon. I admit that I am more of an offensive-type of coach. I run a West Coast offense, where I focus mostly on passing. I was very strict while hiring a defensive coordinator, since I don't know that much about defense. I hope they do well, for the money I am paying them. Well actually, it is the owner's job to pay them. Why lay all the responsibilities on me? I have to go now and get ready for tomorrow's trip. I will post again in 21 days! Adios!

Re: NFL Head Coach video game Empire, not much in terms of freedom. You have a pretty set schedule, and during most time periods, you're only allowed a limited number of actions. For example, you're usually only allowed to propose 2-3 trades or try and sign 2-3 players at a time. You can, however, jump from team to team at will, if you so desire. Not sure if I mentioned it, but its available on PS2, Xbox and PC.

Re: NFL Head Coach video game Yes, that is one of this things I don't like about the game. You have a limited amount of actions you can make at a scheduled event. If you try to propose a trade and they reject you and then you hang up on them, it is counted as one action. I spend most of my time simulating through the office hours because there is nothing much to accomplish on that part of the game. The most important aspect of that game is being a good person. You should listen to what your coaches have to say and pay some respect to your owner. You can't always get along with all of your players but you want to come around as a nice person and even a better coach. I haven't played NFL Head Coach in almost a month. I will get back at my season with the Saints sometime soon. I don't feel so confident in Drew Brees, but neither do the real Saints. I guess I'm going to have to suit him up and see how he performs.
