Re: Broadway Brett's choices

Not sure how much control he had. Hard to believe NY would be his first option. Tampa is playoff material. Jets play tonight but ESPN is carrying the Rams/Cardinals game I think. But will cut in when Farve is announced when they play Cleveland tonight. He sure does get around. Mississippi to Wisconsin back to Mississippi then to Ohio.

I voted for the "just what he did" option.

Re: Broadway Brett's choices

Ideally he would've stayed retired, so that's what I voted.
But, if he had to play, this was pretty much the only option open to him.

Who is to say Tampa Bay will? If Carolina stays healthy (delhomme) they could be a threat. The Saint could have it too if Brees plays well and gets some help from his new TE shockey and RB reggie bush. The only team in the division that they look like they should beat are my atlanta falcons. But the falcons could be the shocker team and actually perform. Especially if Matt Ryan plays like he did last night. It doesn't really matter though. Once the Bucs start losing you will go and find another favorite team anyway.

My first choice also was he should have stayed retired since that was his decision in the first place.
He didnt have much choice in the matter I dont think. All I heard was the Jets offered the best deal.

Tampa Bay says there was no deal from them, that they never made an offer. So Favre had one less option than we thought.

every year everyone says that carolina will be good again but sorry to say they won't their glory days are over.as for the saints they are the most OVERRATED team in the NFL. The only real competition is the falcons (sad to say) but they will only be able to beat Tampa if Matt Ryan starts real soon and play like he did last night every game.as for my favorite team i have 3 Tampa, Dallas, and Jacksonville (my hometown). Brett Favre should have accepted trade to tampa because they are in a weak division and can make the playoffs and tampa has a qb problem Garcia wants more money griese is getting old and simms wants out. Brett has also had experience with gruden. It would have been a match made in heaven. There is one bright side to this now Tebow might get picked up by tampa if the bucs have a good enogh pick in 09 or 10.

Everyone knows that tampa tried to get Brett Favre the only reason why they are saying that is because they didn't get him.

there is a difference between pursuing a player and making them an offer...

I always thought I was part of "everyone" .. guess not, since I didn't know it. All I ever heard was they "should" try to get him.

They sent out feelers but according to reports never made an official offer. I guess they either found Green Bay's initial asking price to be too high, or they begged off once they found out that Garcia was going to be OK. Plus Green Bay publically announced that they didn't want to trade him to another NFC team. Either way, the Bucs were never major players in any Brett Fasvre trade, regardless of all the rumors floating around.

Well, that definitely makes the Jets the best deal. Does that mean no one wanted him?

Can't say I know all the details, but Favre hinted that the Packers would ask a kings ransom for him, and the Packers really seemed hesitant to trade him to an NFC team. So it was probably a combination of those things that scared the Bucs off, plus the good news about Garcia.
