Dilfer Officially retires

Trent Dilfer, veteran quarterback, has announced his retirement from football. He had injured his Achilles tendon while on a family vacation and this clarified his decision. The formal announcement will come soon.

ProFootballTalk.com - DILFER OFFICIALLY RETIRES

Trent Dilfer was a guy who maybe didnt have any outstanding physical skills, but he most certainly knew how to manage a game.

Shame, he was quite the game manager. Baltimore might've won another title or two had they not dumped him for Elvis Grbac.

I most certainly am. He's lost a few steps lately, but he knew how not to lose a game. No big plays, but no big stupid mistakes either.

And I agree with you. I have no idea why the man takes so much heat. He's proven time and again that, while he may not be flashy, he can certainly get the job done. He may not have the Manning- or Brady-esque talent to go out and win games, but he's a game manager who won't make the big mistake. Like I said, Baltimore might have more than one Super Bowl ring had they not dumped him and "upgraded" at QB with Elvis Grbac.

Baltimore, Seattle, a stopover in Cleveland... then I'm pretty sure his last stop was with the Niners.
Not that he saw any action or anything. Strickly as a backup/mentor.
