Don Imus Claims He Was Defending Pacman

Don Imus spoke out on his radio show today about his comments yesterday regarding Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones. Here's the audio:

RedLasso - Imus defends Pacman comments

Talking about police treatment of Jones, who has been arrested several times, Imus said, "What people should be outraged about is that they arrest blacks for no reason. There's no reason to arrest this kid six times, I mean maybe he did something once but everybody does something once -- I have. ... They shoot blacks for no reason."

Imus later added, "I know there's some people who want to get me, but you're not going to get me for this. It's ridiculous."

Re: Don Imus Claims He Was Defending Pacman

I read this and was trying to figure out what was going on. Its like he is going in a totally different direction here. I mean Jones was arrested 6 times according to him. So was he like jaywalking or something? He said he knew what color Pacman was when he asked and his reply "There you go" could be taken either the way it was originally understood or the way he claims he meant it.
I think Ismus is trying to cover his tracks.

Re: Don Imus Claims He Was Defending Pacman

Let me say from the start that I don't mean to offend anyone here. But if he had been talking about a white guy that got arrested and asked what color is he, they say white, he said, there you go,now we know. Would anyone even be having this conversation about what he meant?

Imus is under a racial microscope but at the same time he has to be entertaining as a talk show host, it's a fine line he has to walk, I don't think he said anything racist however.

I'd comment on what he said, but I'm still trying to figure out why this guy has a job, and anyone bothers to listen to him.
