Accountability for teams with turds

Disclaimer: Turds was the author's word, not mine. But after consideration, it fits

Since the NFL is supposed to be cracking down on player misconduct, we(ProfootballTalk) sent an email to Greg Aiello(NFL spokesman) if any team has been penalized when one of its players was arrested in the last year. He said not yet, but they have been notified that they now face consequences in this regard.
For starters, they will have to pay part of the suspended player's salary as a fine.
Goodell also says he hasnt ruled out competitive consequences such as forfeiture of draft picks.
Also what should be taken into account is whether or not the team knew about the player's issues. If so, the consequences should be more severe. Pro football also thinks there should be incentives for teams who dont have any players with issues off the field.

Not sure I like this plan. I mean, if a team has repeat problems, I could see this possibly... but who saw a guy like Cedric Benson getting into trouble? I don't believe he had any past issues. I just wonder if there will be some kind of structure to this, or if it'll be judgment calls all the time.

There seems to be some discrepancy between what Benson says and the police say. I am keeping an eye on it.
But Profootball said there would have to be some kind of formula to determine it. It shouldnt be judgment calls. Maybe I didnt make it clear enough, but Goodell says he is thinking about competitive penalties. The rest was Profootball's idea. And for every Cedric Benson, there are 10 Pacman or Tank Johnsons or Chris Henrys.
I like it. Teams like the Bengals dont care. They got a another one in the draft.

And if it's used to discipline teams like that, who have double-digit incidents and still draft players of questionable character, then I like it too.

i Presume this only applies to guys whp had trouble in college or have offended already. i mean surely they won't penalize a team it a normal (For lack of a better word) 'straight' player goes crazy once like if tom brady or strahan hit some1 in a moment of madness?

Yeah, that would be my guess. Of course, it probably also depends on the severity of said moment of madness.
