Not suprised one bit. Im a little relevied and a little mad at the same time. I wish we could off got a trade instead of a cut, would of saved us a lot of money in the long run.

I'm not surprised but it makes me kind of sad.

You have to pay his salary but still his salary doesn't count towards the cap right?

I don't think they owe him anything if he fails a physical, which to my understanding is what happened. So, is he done in the NFL?

This is the reason people re-negotiate all the time...neither side really ever plans to fully honor a contract...players get cut all the time...and they counter by hold outs and renegotiations...

Heck he got damaged being a Seahawk...that should be enough to collect on whatever was left...

I really doubt anyone would have traded anything for him though, he is damaged goods and only good for a backup anymore. I was living in Seattle during the 2005 season and man what a year that was for #37!!!

He would have been a decent back up to have on the team, maybe teach something to the rookies, like AP.

I agree he would be good in that capacity, but I still wouldn't trade for him though. As for him teaching or backing up AP, the Vikings already have a vastly superior back in Chester Taylor. There was an unfounded rumor a few days ago that the Vikings would pick him up for that very reason and trade Chester for a first or second round pick. Watch him end up in Green Bay.

Re: Seahawks release former MVP

If I could, I'd try and get Alexander to be my goal-line back. Dude can't run like he used to but I don't know of another back who could punch it in from 2-3 yards out consistently. Maybe Priest Holmes and LT but Alexander always somehow managed to find the creases and get it in.

Now if Seattle cut ties with him because he failed a physical, then his career might be over and all this talk is rendered moot!

Re: Seahawks release former MVP

Carolina will give him the once over they love giving large contracts to washed up over the hill injured players.

You are right. The best way to stop all the re-negotiating is to hold teams to their end of the contracts too. They should have to honor whatever they had left to pay him....in full....even if he failed the physical. Like you said, he got hurt playing for their team.

As far as I can find, he did pass his physical. He was released the day after doctors cleared him to play in spring minicamps.(wrist) He says he is healthy and ready to go.
