San Fran found guilty!

Adam Schefter of NFL Access reports tonight that Roger Goodell has determined that the San Francisco 49ers are guilty of violating the anti tampering rule. They had contacted Lance Briggs while he was still under contract to the Bears.
San Francisco will give up their 5th round pick and had to switch with the Bears to switch in the 3rd round. The Bears will pick 7th in the third round and San Francisco will pick 12th.

I suppose we'll have to listen to this as much as we did about the Pats video taping. After all ... cheating is cheating. I can hardly wait to see all the posts we get on this one.

Re: San Fran found guilty!

I think this is just as bad...maybe worse than what happened to the Patriots. San Fran was found to be trying to sabotage another team. Why is the penalty not as steep?

If you open to the Official NFL Handbook, the one put out by the Commish office and sent to each team at the start of the year...turn to page 378...the paragraph that starts..."In order to establish parity"...

Re: San Fran found guilty!

People joke, but this is the second time in 15 years or so that the Niners have been hit with a penalty for something like this. The first time was for fudging the salary cap numbers, if I remember right. Cost a lot of front office people their jobs, including Carmen Policy. Now they get caught illegally tampering with a player under contract. Something about this really rubs me the wrong way.

In all seriousness, and honestly I don't get my jeans all in a wad over it ...but, this will not be the same story as with the Pat's. In my book cheating is cheating. I was far from content that the Pat's did it and I find this violation on the same plane as theirs.
