The NFL is investigating a charge by the Chicago Bears that the San Francisco 49ers tampered last year by making overtures to lineback Lance Briggs three league sources say.
The Bears and 49ers discussed a trade in October, but Bears say 49ers had contract talks with agent Drew Rosenhaus during the season, which is interfering with a player under contract.
The 49ers say they first talked to the Bears, then contacted Rosenhaus and the NFL about signing Briggs to a new contract. Because Briggs was designated a franchise player last offseason and didnt reach a long term deal before the deadline in July, he was not eligible to sign a new contract with anyone.

I would love to see the Bears win the because I like to see the Bears win. But tampering cases are very hard to win.

hey dusty whats up?why u haten vernon davis hasn't came out and said anything about his Q.B. even thou he might be a bust "i think so too"but not one time has he said anything about it,r blame someone else,coming from a giants fan i can understand u knowing about a t.e. with an attitude "shockey" u know. and about briggs i heard that also is the case they will have to prove it,but if they did indeed voilate the rules then they deserve to get punished.i hope for the team sake it's not the case.

p.s add the super bowls up from jets and the lions and see if they match the niners oh what the heck trough in the giant's too.have a nice day
