| 72 Dolphins not grumpy old men While members of the '72 Dolphins have been portrayed as a bunch of grumpy old men clinging on for dear life to their undefeated record, they did their best during Friday's national conference call to distance themselves from that image. Coach Don Shula says he will be the first to call Bill Belichick to congratulate him if they win. Running back Mercury Morris stated that nothing belongs to them anyway. It belongs to the history of the NFL. Jim Kiick, also a running back, declared he preferred Jack Daniels, so they dont sit around with a bottle of champagne waiting for a team to lose. Instead they celebrate their accomplishments. Players said that the biggest similiarity between them and these Patriots was that they dont make mistakes. Oh please...Morris is the first to whin about the whole thing...I have heard him ...Love the way the man ran with the ball...a big contrast to Csonka...but I ain't buying the whole thing from the 72 Dolphins...they have just taken too much flak this year and wish it to go away.

That's what I am thinking...I lived in Miami from 1971-1976 as a kid...and they seem like a class act then...but times changes things...too bad I was a Cowboy fan at the height of their reign... |

| Re: 72 Dolphins not grumpy old men When they lower you into the ground it'll still be 6 feet deep. Record holder or not. Is that stuff really that important that you have to hang on to it for 35 years ? It's great to be a record holder but records were made to be broken.

| Re: 72 Dolphins not grumpy old men My theory is that it doesn't have to be something from 35 years ago. My Pat's lost the big prize. Big deal. I got bigger fish to fry and I am not in the least bit mad at Giant's fans for winning. We had a great run that I am very proud of but it's over. They did in fact break records along the way, just as teams do every year. This is a good thing. I get no personal joy kicking sand in the face of the losing team. I might kid you about it but to live the seriousness of it is no part of my day. Win or lose, no matter the sport, I move on. |
