| Time to tame press conference monster The latest rage in sports is the press conference about nothing. Or at least nothing new. Tony Dungy calls the sports media world together to announce that he is ... not retiring. In other words, the Indianapolis Colts coach called the press corps in to tell it that he is doing exactly the same thing tomorrow and the day after that he was doing the day before. Not to be outdone, Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren gathers the media to announce that he is following in Dungy's footsteps and NOT retiring also. There was some speculation about both coaches but it mostly was started by themselves. News has become a 24-hour obsession, particularly in sports. Everyone has something to say about something, some have something to say about everything, but no one has nothing to say about anything. Not in sports anyway. Opinions sprout like kudzu and too many turn into rumors. Which suddenly and inexplicably turn into press conferences. We will listen to anything and repeat anything. One of the best things about sports is the chatter surrounding it. Everyone has a opinion, even the people who need a mute button. What's next, a press conference to announce that there will be no press conference? Time to tame press conference monster | SavannahNow.com

| Re: Time to tame press conference monster Well in light of all these announcements I am announcing that I will be moderating to the same degree I did yesterday and more than likely will do the same tomorrow. Any questions ??? |
