Going to the Superbowl vs. Throwing a Superbowl Party

This is an interesting thing to consider... my friends and I had a debate about it this past weekend. At first you might think DUH going to the Super Bowl would be better, but I think a party is... you have all your friends together, hanging out and relaxing, drinking and eating (for cheap!) and hopefully with a giant TV (that is crucial!) and you can watch instant replays! I think the camaraderie of it is more fun. It is so much easier to see what's going on in football games watching them on TV. I need to get a new TV for my super bowl party too! Does anyone have any recommendations for a good brand that isn't too expensive but still good value? I can't afford Sony but maybe thinking Vizio? Any thoughts?

My Family threw a party for I don't know how many straight years. So unless it's your team in the game I would say watch it and throw the party.

I'd like to go to the superbowl just once to say I've been. On a whole though... I would rather have a superbowl party.

Re: Going to the Superbowl vs. Throwing a Superbowl Party

ive thrown SuperBowl parties with my football friends for the last few years and ive always thought its better,
your in the comfort of your own home, come rain or shine you are all comfortable.
great discussion without having to shout at the top of your lungs for people to see you
get in all the food and drinks you want that you can have when you want, without missing a minute of the game.
at half time you can play Madden (well we do)
go to the bathroom without having to share it with a million other people
and when its all over, you can do what you want, whether your team win or lose, your at home and can forget, or rememeber it as quickly as possible.

not to say i would turn down a ticket to the SuperBowl though

Same here. On the whole, I'd rather either watch it at home or go to a party. But just once, it'd be nice to go.

Re: Going to the Superbowl vs. Throwing a Superbowl Party

I've never been to a pro football game, so I can't fairly compare the two. I've watched my sons play, 5th, and 6th grade, and it seams you miss so much in person. Put me down for the party.

My big TV is a Panasonic, and I'm very happy with it.

I would normally rather watch the superbowl with some friends, but I agree. Just once I would like to go to the superbowl just to say I did.

Re: Going to the Superbowl vs. Throwing a Superbowl Party

Yea very true. I would like to go to at least one game. It's definitely really exciting when you're surrounded by thousands of screaming fans - especially when they're rooting for your team too. I've been to sporting events and it's a blast, but I've also gone to sports parties and those are a blast too!!! At least when you talk crap to your friends that are going for the other team, you don't have to worry about someone getting extremely mad and wanting to kick your ass or something. Sports fans can get crazy!!

So those that are watching the game at home, does anyone recommend a good tv to watch it on that isn't too expensive and has great quality? Anyone have a Vizio cause I heard those were pretty good..?

Thanks!

Re: Going to the Superbowl vs. Throwing a Superbowl Party

even if you get a hd tv you still gotta have a hd cable package. or it will actually look worse than a regular tv since and hd tv picks up more pixels. we learned that the hard way. we got a 58 or 60 inch tv (dont know exactly and dont feel like looking), its a sony bravia wit full 1080 hd but the picture looked horrible til we got hd cable package. now my teams even look good when they lose
