2008 Top Special Teams Free-Agents

Rob Bironas, RFA, Tennessee Titans
Over the course of the ’05 and ’06 seasons with the Titans, Bironas kicked five game-winning field goals, which accounted for nearly half of the team’s twelve wins over that span. He has a strong leg and has converted a 60-yard field goal for a win— the longest field goal in franchise history. He also set an NFL record earlier this season when he connected on eight field goal attempts and he has converted 88.9 percent of his attempts this season.

Josh Brown UFA Seattle Seahawks
Brown was in the same position last season, and the Seahawks signed him for another season because of how reliable he has tended to be. This season has been no different. He’s been successful on 26 of 32 field goal attempts, and his misses have all been from a distance of more than 40 yards.

Other Free Agent Kickers
Dave Rayner UFA Green Bay Packers
Lawrence Tynes UFA New York Giants

Other Free Agent Punters
Jeff Feagles UFA New York Giants
Scott Player UFA Arizona Cardinals
Todd Sauerbrun UFA Denver Broncos

2008 NFL Free Agent ST

IMO one kicker is as good as another....give or take a miss here or there. Just pick one that you feel comfortable with and don't overspend on one.

Bironas is good, but there's no Vinatieri-level special teamers out there this year.

I don't think he's as good or in demand as Vinatieri was during his free-agent year.

but hes made almost every kick so far this season no matter the distance or situation, there is that Texans game when he went 8-8 and he might not be as in demand as Vinatieri was but that doesnt mean he isnt as good, i think they are definatly on the same level right now

Were is Brendon Ayanbadejo , he is a pro bowler on a special teams and a captain on the Bears, he continues to not get the respect he deserves.

Actually, with so much parity in the league, I think having a good kicker is very important. Just ask the Jets who had Doug Brien and he missed easy field goals against the Steelers and cost the Jets a playoff game.

Ask the Cowboys from 2 years ago how many games kickers like Jose Cortez and Billy Cundiff.
