Not trying to start an arguement here, but what are you basing this on. This team is in a shambles with only a couple bright spots for it this season....unless I am missing something.

Re: falcons

You must be new. Welcome to the forum
I agree with azrael. Its going to take more than a year. Lots of rebuilding to do there. But I do agree they will be back. Lots of heart and courage there, misplaced sometimes, but still there.
What do you think of your coach???

Re: falcons

Funny, but if you think about it, this is almost your typical "boilerplate" statement for many teams in pro sports:

"Yeah, give the <insert franchise/team name here> one more year and they're going to <insert event here - make the playoffs, win the championship, etc.>!"

One phrase sums this attitude all up: "Hope springs eternal..." And sadly, as fans, sometimes hope IS the only thing we have to look forward to!

Boy, do I hear you on that one. I used to get excited every year, even the year Vinnie and Eddie were our main guys.

Ouch Azrael, 17 years??? That's pathetic. I thought I was bad with Vinnie and Eddie.

The last time they went to the world series was 1990. It was a great year.

Re: falcons

That's a nice yet unfounded sentiment about the Falcons being 'back' as early as next year. In reality, it most likely will take a restructuring of its core foundation which will be time consuming. That's one thing.

Evaluating the players and coaches, keeping some kicking out others, is another two month process. Finding FA players and doing intelligent drafting during the 2008 and 2009 NFL drafts is sorely needed to re-stock a team long on players with age and 'Me-First' attitudes.

Add it all up, and we're looking at two years, three more likely for the Falcons to be considered worthy of a playoff run. The new GM and head coach won't lack for things to do in cleaning up this considerable mess.

That is the killer on this team imho. We have about 5 or 6 players that could play on another team (be a starter) - beyond that it is a toss-up at best.

I hope Blank has a plan

Re: falcons

Hear what DeAngelo Hall "promised" earlier this week?

Hall's promise: 'I will not be a part of a losing team another year' - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

What Hall still can't comprehend is why Arthur Blank let Jim Mora Jr. go. Turns out, Michael Vick wasn't only a dog-killer but just like the Senior Mora said on NFL Network, he was a "coach-killer" as well!!!

After the snub by Parcells (apparently using Atlanta only as leverage to get Miami's attention) all I can do is quote Jesse Ventura in the movie "Predator"

"...you lose it here, you're in a world of HURT!"

Atlanta's in a WORLD OF HURT, as I see it!
