I know a Sports Writer that called Csonka the most overrated runner in the game. I beg to differ. I have not seen a true fullback run as well, unless we count Jimmy Brown a fullback. And I remember the guy carry the Dolphins in two straight Super Bowl wins. How does he end up on the overrated list?

Because he wasn't the fastest and he wasn't pretty. He just put his head down and rammed straight ahead...

But 4.3 yards a carry and 64 TD's is pretty good in my book. John Riggins who was the same type of runner only averaged 3.9 yards a carry but had 104 TD's. I'd say both of these guys were top 15-20 type runners.

Add to that the fact that he was a big game performer...and during his haydays in Miami he average close to 5 yards a carry from his fullback spot.

Who was the idiot that thought he was overrated? Name the player similar to Csonka since he retired. It must have been someone who saw him when he was nearly cooked, with the Giants before he retired.

I never really got to see him play, but I did get to meet him one time. A childhood friend was a family friend of his. He came for a visit and gave me an autograph. He was always one of my favorites because of that.
