Pro Bowl before Super Bowl?

NFL commish Roger Goodell is floating the idea of moving the Pro Bowl to the Sunday before the Super Bowl.

Not everyone seems to like the idea.

"So what happens to the guys who make the Pro Bowl who are on the Super Bowl teams?" Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, an eight-time Pro Bowler, told reporters. "They can't play? No way, that's not gonna fly."

Lewis' teammate, Trevor Price, disagrees, "Play it in the same city as the Super Bowl; just do it the week before... Everybody wants to be in town for the Super Bowl and all the parties. Just start the party a few days earlier by bringing in the Pro Bowl."

So what do you think about all of this? Good idea or not?

Re: Pro Bowl before Super Bowl?

I don't know when the Pro Bowl should be played but I do know it shouldn't be after the Super Bowl.

The season should end once a champion is crowned. After that, most people stop caring.

Re: Pro Bowl before Super Bowl?

I like the idea of putting the Pro Bowl in the traditional bye week. It'll give fans a game to watch while they're waiting for the big game.

Good idea by Goodell. A better idea would be to get rid of the game entirely, which is played at half-speed anyways. Take the money wasted on it now and put it into the pension fund! I can remember when the NFL champion would play a team of college All-Stars before the season began. Obviously in today's day and age this would never happen, but those were fun games.

Re: Pro Bowl before Super Bowl?

The players seem to enjoy it alot. Its football, but its just fun.
I like it because its one more game before the dry season begins.
Since its mostly for fun, if there were Super Bowl players in it, and the Pro Bowl was before the Super Bowl, then I think it would throw them off.
So either leave it alone, or eliminate it altogether.

Cool Re: Pro Bowl before Super Bowl?

It sounds ridiculous to me. I hate to agree with Ray Lewis but what about those players?

I agree with Legend. Scrap the game, altogether. It's almost as unwatchable as Knicks game are.

Re: Pro Bowl before Super Bowl?

i would not want any Super Bowl players to play in this game if it is before the Super Bowl in case of injury

personally i would like to see it turn into more of a skills challenge .... the NBA and NHL have them and i find them the most enjoyable to watch

This is exactly what I was thinking. I hate all the exhibition games. Vote for the players, but make them all-pro. Give them the money, but lose the game. I have never watched one in my 38 years.

I don't like that idea either. If that got popular, ESPN would start showing the combine tryouts on TV. That is basically all a skills challenge is.

NFL Network already does that, I believe.

Re: Pro Bowl before Super Bowl?

I knew it was only a matter of time. They will probably start filming the recruiting process for college ball now.
