| Jimm Kimmel Makes Joe Theismann the Butt of MNF Jokes ![]() Last year, Jimmy Kimmel visited the Monday Night Football booth and delivered perhaps the funniest comment from any booth guest all season (not that that's saying much) by asking Joe Theismann, "How's the leg?" That was in reference to the brutal compound fracture that Theismann suffered during his playing days on Monday Night Football, courtesy of Lawrence Taylor. Tonight Kimmel is back in the booth, and even though Theismann is no longer on the MNF announcing crew, Kimmel is still cracking jokes about him. Kimmel's lines included asking, "What happened to Joe?" and "Do you think Joe is watching right now?" He also said Theismann is "watching from his living room with steam coming out of his ears" and "I thought Tony had him fired." Tony Kornheiser seemed to find the jokes funny, but Mike Tirico and Ron Jaworski clearly felt uncomfortable. Kimmel did have one funny line, though: "Harrington's not a great quarterback but he's very nice to his pets." | Re: Jimm Kimmel Makes Joe Theismann the Butt of MNF Jokes Sometimes I wish they would just keep hollywood in hollywood ya know? It's like these actors, musicians and comedians always have to use sports to promote thier crap. It drives me crazy when they feel the need to bring the star of some new movie or tv show into the broadcast booth and they sit there promoting themselves while the game is being played. They do this all the time at NASCAR races too or during the NFL playoffs. The poor announcers will have to mention 10 times that Sheryl Crow will be playing at half time....WHO CARES?!?! Hollywood has totally taken over the super bowl. I also don't see Hollywood stretching it's arms out to the sport communitee. I mean you won't see Tom Brady or Jeff Gordon at the Oscars. |

| Re: Jimm Kimmel Makes Joe Theismann the Butt of MNF Jokes Well my take on Kimmel is that in the context of the "Man Show" he did exactly what I expected of him, BUT .... he leaves me with the impression that he feels that he can carry that same type of humor into a wider sector of the population and in my case he has outlived his usefulness. |
