First NFL coach to be fired

My candidate has to be Marvin Lewis. It's 3rd and 10 with Cinncy down by 10. With under 1 min to go, they have the ball around the 20 yard line and they kick the FG. Talk about not giving your team a chance to win. Marvin Lewis gets my vote.

Yeah, he's definitely a great choice. A lousy team + poor decisions + numerous off-field incidents is a sure recipe to get canned.

Re: First NFL coach to be fired

Marvin Lewis will have to make things happen not to be on the hot seat, I agree, but I don't know if he'll be let go during the season!

Now, if this was NASCAR, an announcement would probably be made on Tuesday that coach Lewis will finish the season with Cincy BUT will assume the head coaching post in <insert city's team name here> in 2008!

But he can be more careful, drafting guys who are less pre-disposed to such behavior. It's a joke - look at how many Bengals have gotten in legal trouble over the past three seasons. It's got to be at least 2-3 times the rest of the league combined. Lewis has to be partially accountable for that. Plus he's not winning either. Their defense is one of the worst in the league, and all that supposed offense talent they have isn't scoring for jack.

Re: First NFL coach to be fired

I think Joe Gibbs might take over Marvin Lewis. He has been just bad these last 3 games. I wonder if old Danny boy will throw the money at Bill Cower? It would be hard to do but the right thing imo. Let Gibbs go after this season.

cameron has to be the first to go in miami. That team is going to win one game, i know they have had serious injury problems, but you cant fire a team

Re: First NFL coach to be fired

wat? noo

how bout a guy named brian billick? you know coach of teh ravens. you know the guy who has let a perfectly good defense go to waste over the last maybe 10 years. you know the guy who puts STEVE MACNAIR in a game. you know the guy who puts kyle boller in a game. you know the guy who has a heisman trophy winner sittin on the bench behind those 2 dinosaurs. yea that guy.

gibbs is a hall of famer and has won superbowls with talent that is arguably less than mediocre (excluding art monk) plus i dont think anyone would have the balls to spend a 1st round pick on a black quarterback (who has huge potential but some growing to do)

marvin cant baby sit those players. and the coaches cant make em execute. why dont you look at teh offensive coordinator.

and miami, man miami. hasnt been nothin since marino left. ginn has been somewhat of a bust and their only good player (besides jason taylor) ronnie brown is out for the season

Re: First NFL coach to be fired

Gibbs has coached himself almost out of the Hall of Fame but I don't see him being fired. Billick has worn out his welcome and Lewis is just plain bad. But 0-16 has to get you fired, doesn't it?

Re: First NFL coach to be fired

Billick could well get canned. Cameron will get more than one year - deservedly - because Saban left him a huge mess to clean up. I still say Marvin Lewis is on the hotseat. Mike Nolan's name keep coming up. What about Andy Reid? Any pressure on him?
