Vs. The Spread!

I once won $821 when I hit on a 5-team parlay in pro football. Yes, a $50 bet became a handsome payout. This was about 3-4 years ago and it was with an on-line outfit. Since then, I have returned the "favor" with interest and have not managed to repeat the same result!!!

I'm just wondering... do YOU have any "big one" stories you care to share?

no ..... i have plenty of the stories where i get screwed by the spread

i play in a weekly pool where you make your picks and go for $1 or $2 .... nothing big but if you get them all right you can win $50 for picking 7 games .... never works out for me

Re: Vs. The Spread!

I have lost every which way possible in three major sports. I once lost a baseball bet on the Yankees where they were winning 9-1 going into the top of the ninth against the Royals. I lost a bet on UConn once when Tate George hit a three at the buzzer to send the game into OT where they proceeded to lose by a dozen. And I lost an over/under in football when the same man jumped offsides four times on a kickoff, resulting in the Steelers kicking from about their own 15, whcih the bengals ran back and then scored a meaningless touchdown, except to those who had bet the under, like me. Anyone that tells you they consistly win betting on sports is a LIAR.

I did hit a $900 trifecta at the dog track once. Unfortunately, they got most of it back over the next few weeks.

That's the thing about gambling. You ALWAYS give it back. As Robert DeNiro said in Casino. "The rule is to keep them playing and keep them coming back."
