George Toma was working alone on the Vikings' Winter Park practice fields Wednesday, overseeding them with a spreader. Toma, 78, who has prepared 41 Super Bowl fields and is regarded as the best groundskeeper in the business, revealed that he might have had enough. Toma said he is considering retirement, maybe in a couple of weeks. "I've been in the game for 66 years - football, baseball, two Olympics, World Series, World Cup soccer," said Toma, whose home is in Kansas City. He also prepares Twins spring training practice fields in Fort Myers, Fla. "I've got family, grandchildren, I can go out if I want, make speeches at universities or turf grass conferences," he said. He also cautioned that he could change his mind. "I tried retirement 10 years ago and it didn't work," he said.
