NFL's Goodell targets holdouts

Now Roger Goodell would like to do something to ensure that players like Quinn do not hold out when negotiating their rookie contracts. ''It's one of the issues we've talked with the union about in negotiations, and I think it'll be clearly one of the issues we talk about when we sit down and talk about making changes that we would make to the system,'' Goodell said Thursday during the NFL commissioner's visit to the Browns' training camp. ''What can be done to either eliminate or certainly limit the possibility of players holding out during training camp, particularly rookies?'' -- Beacon Journal

I actually like this, I dont think rookies should be able to holdout, they havent even played a single NFL game yet but can demand crazy contracts..prove your good and youll get paid..

I def agree. Who says that you are worthy of 5 million a year just because you were a good college football players. The best college football players don't always make the bets NFL players.

Goodell is like a new sheriff in town cleaning up all of the last guy's messes. However, I don't know how you can stop players from legally getting what they think they are worth.

It's no different than an everyday person who thinks they are worth the money that the CEO receives but they have not proved it yet. Just because these guys excel at a sport, does not mean that they deserve more than the All-Pro who has proven that he can do it day in and day out.
