Rule on possession changed

Mike Pereira, the Vice President of Officiating for the NFL was on NFL Access tonight and talked about the possession rule change.
After a receiver catches the ball, gets both feet down, has control, gets hit and loses the ball, it will be called a catch and fumble. If he gets only one foot down, gets hit and loses the ball, it will be called an incomplete pass.
Great! No more worrying about did he make a football move???

What if he gets a knee in bound then loses the football?..Does one knee equal two feet?...(Didn't John Madden write a book by that name)

Hmm, they didnt cover that. But I dont think so. Mike was quite definite about the two feet down. I was happy about not worrying about the football move and you two had to give me something else to worry about. Does anyone know for sure? I will keep looking.

Re: Rule on possession changed

If the rule is he just needs to have possession, then yes, getting a knee down would count. But I imagine he's have to pick it back up, because if he's hit with a knee down, he's down, fumble or not. So he'd have to make a football move in that case anyway, basically making this discussion irrelevant. I think.

...was watching NFL total access and some old dude from the NFL was explaining it and its so much better than last years rules becuase it is as basic as Bette explained "control and 2 feet down" as soon as that happens if the reciever looses the ball its a fumble.

i mean they were showing clips from last season and they showed 3 catches...all seemed pretty much the same but there was a question about the "footballing move" and if it was made...this year we wont have that question becuase it has been broken down to its most basic form so now we can watch a game and if a reciever looses to ball after a catch all you have to look at is "control...one foot down...two feet down" and thats it
