Superbowling in January!

How many of you want to see snow during the Superbowl?....I hate the rule that keeps the Superbowl in warm weather cities!

Re: Superbowling in January!

It's not that the players "are too fragile" but the Super Bowl is more than just a simple football game these days. It's a weeklong party for the city. They don't want a Superbowl in Minnesota or New York in February where it could be cold as hell.

But it sure would be nice to have a Superbowl in places like NY/NJ, Philly, etc.

That 'real' fan is the little group. The Super Bowl is marketed to the masses, the non-sports or casual fan.

Re: Superbowling in January!

i think that if you spread the Superbowl around all over the place its better for everyone, every city gets to host the superbowl and benefit for the revenue etc etc...

also think about the players that play in the heat all year round like the Cardinals or those on the west coast, isnt it a little unfair to make them play in the snow at the end of it.

what i would like to see however is the Superbowl expanding to be played in every state at some point i mean there are 32 teams in the NFL and 32 possible venues to play the "greatest game on turf" so why is it that Florida seems to be hoesting the superbowl in one city or another for the next 10 years and states like New York cant get it?

Exactly. If the NFL put it in Detroit or Buffalo, only real fans would go. As it is now, the Super Bowl is more of an event for the masses, not just a football game. As long as they're commanding what they're commanding for tickets and still selling out (and then some), nothing will change.

Re: Superbowling in January!

I hate snow and cold.
I am thinking maybe extreme heat bothers them more than the cold.
Also, that doesnt always seem to be true about the supposed advantage one team has over the other because of temperature. I keep thinking of that game between the Patriots and the Raiders. Raiders would have won except for that stupid tuck rule. They were playing with more snow on their helmets than we had on the ground at that time.
I dont think the players today are exactly fragile.
Guess I would rather see the game indoors. Sometimes the weather creates more lucky opportunities than skill.

Events make money for the NFL...and I would hate for climate to be the main reason on which a winner is decided.

Re: Superbowling in January!

I think it is best to play it where the elements don't decide the game. Either we should leave it as is, or just make the home field the same as the rest of the playoffs. Give it to the Super Bowl team with the best record.

I would not move it to every teams stadium, rotating it throughout. If a team wants the Super Bowl in their town, then earn it!

It determines games in the regular season and the playoffs so i disagree with this point, some of the greatest games ever played were in the snow!

yeah but i think the point is that some teams can play, and win, in 100 degree weather all year round and then there are reduced to playing in snow...surely that would effect a team that plays all their games in the heat all season round right? i mean the Packers, Broncos and Bears play in snow for most of the season so if they have to play in Florida for the Super Bowl are they not going to be at more of a disadvantage than the Cardinals or the Texans who play in the heat all year round?

You post from Kentucky. Are you saying you want to WATCH the games in the snow or GO to the games in the snow???
Me, I'm definitely a wimp. I dont want to go watch a game in 100 degree heat or 20 degress below. I will take my recliner in my living room anytime.

Determining games in the regular season isnt always such a big thing, because there are more chances to win usually.
Playoffs??? At first I thought maybe they should be played in a more neutral atmosphere, but then I remembered the home team won that right to play at home. So if they cant handle the elements, tough. The visiting team needs to overcome the elements and prove they can handle it. So guess I will stick with the system as is.

Snow football is the best. The Super Bowl has turned into something more than a championship and I hate that.
