Cool Reggie Bush clocks 4.33 in 40

Running back Reggie Bush didn't disappoint, running an electronically timed 4.33 in his best 40. Most NFL stopwatches placed him in the 4.35 to 4.38 range. Performing in front of 150-plus onlookers from the NFL and about 1,500 fans, he also showed some explosion in the vertical, registering a 40½ and showcasing top-notch acceleration and quickness in all of his drills. He also served as a receiver during Matt Leinart's passing drills and showed good hands. All in all, it was something that should do nothing to dissuade Houston from taking him with the No. 1 pick.

Add to that the fact that he out benched LeDain White 24 reps to 15, and you got a high quality showing.

He OUTBENCHED White?

Bush is definitely a phenomenal athlete. Strength's apparently better than I'd thought, though. The only lingering doubt about him is whether or not he can be a 25-30 carry a game guy.

With his skill, though, I'm not sure that matters. I think I might've said this before elsewhere, but if he only gets 10 touches a game and scores on three of them, then he's well worth the No. 1 pick.

More good stuff from USC's pro day.

Not only did LenDale White get outbenched by Bush, who's more than 40-pounds lighter than White, but he only managed one more rep than the USC PUNTER, 204-pound Tom Malone!

And apparently, OT Winston Justice had a great day. His 39 inch vertical leap and 38 repetitions in the bench were better than D'Brickashaw Ferguson's and word is that the USC lineman may have moved into the top 10 with his showing.

"That 39-inch vertical jump is off the charts for a big man," Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox told reporters afterwards. "He's a really good football player on tape, and that's the No. 1 thing we look at. But he certainly didn't hurt himself today. … He's athletic enough to move to left tackle, that's for sure. It's just a matter of him getting comfortable. But Winston is a smart guy. He can handle that."

"It was more than what we expected," added Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher. "But you know, you could see flashes of that on the field. He's worked hard to get to this point."

To me that 40 number is a little optimistic..I agree that 4.38 is more likely. I am anxious to see what he does in the NFL..

Gotham,

I made it to the mailbox and back in less than that and so I'm not impressed.

Yeah...The number "5" is going to make him look faster...ever notice those college guys in the one digit numbers usally run extra fast?...You got to be fast to pull off a one digit number...
